No person may alter any designated areas, structures, or landmarks in such a manner as to affect their exterior appearance, unless a certificate of appropriateness has been issued by the planning commission.

(The word “alter” shall mean the addition to, removal of or from, or physical modification of any part.)

Nothing in this chapter shall be construed to prevent the ordinary maintenance of architectural features. [Ord. 26 § IV, 1986.]
